FPRO 9991 Diagnosis/Restoration of Complex Restorative Cases - Fall 2011       1-1 hrs.

Prerequisites: None. Course considers the evaluation of complex restorative cases from a comprehensive perspective. Emphasis will be placed on thorough diagnosis and technical excellence. The diagnosis, equilibration, and diagnostic wax-up of mounted study casts will be presented along with concepts of preparation design, tissue management, impression technique and provisional restoration fabrication. This will include an in-depth analysis of considerations for an optimum occlusion, considerations for evaluating vertical dimension of occlusion and various restorative sequences utilized to segment treatment in a complex restorative case. Mounted casts of two patients with severe wear (one horizontal, one vertical) will be evaluated, diagnosed and diagnostically waxed. This hands-on exercise will provide better insight to proper restorative sequence for complex restorative cases.
