MIRS 3493 Instrumentation and Safety - Fall 2017       3-3 hrs.

Prerequisites: By permission Course reviews the physical principles and properties of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation used in medical imaging and radiation therapy clinical setting. A comparison of the mechanics of image production, interaction with matter, detection of radiation, biological risks, and protection from radiation are emphasized as related to department design and functionality.
